The festival
attracts over 35,000 visitors who enjoy two stages of continuous
music and dance, crafts demonstrations and crafts sales. Approximately
600 artists from some forty Salt Lake Valley ethnic communities
share their heritage.
Twenty ethnic food booths sell reasonably
priced entrees and desserts and are run by local non-profit
ethnic organizations who use the proceeds to support local
arts programs. Come and enjoy food from Thailand, Austria,
Italy, Mexico, Armenia, El Salvador, the American deep South,
the Basque regions, just to name a few.
In addition, more than 2,000 students attend
a special daytime program where they learn about the artistry
of their multi-ethnic Salt Lake neighbors.
Living
Traditions is a program of and is produced by the Salt
Lake City Arts Council. Support and programming of local artists
is provided by the Utah Arts Council, Folk Arts Program.
