Young Dancer at Living Traditions Festival

A young dancer performs at the Living Traditions Festival, Salt Lake City's ethnic festival every May during the weekend before Memorial Day. Visitors can experience the rich cultural diversity of the Salt Lake Valley through music, dance, traditional crafts, and of course delicious ethnic foods of all kinds.

Chase Home Museum of Utah Folk Arts
The only state museum of its kind in the country, the Chase Home Museum of Utah Folk Arts has become the place where traditional art and artists from Utah's ethnic, native, occupational and rural communities share their craft, music and dance with their own communities, their Utah neighbors and with tourists from around the world.

Cultural Tours
Residents and visitors to the state of Utah will enjoy the many offererings of cultural tours available throughout the state. Here are just a few sponsored by the Utah Arts Council.

48 Hours in Film
Put together your team to script, film, edit and download a 4-5 minute film -- all in 48 hours. Contest takes place in January. Winners from last year's competition are now available online.

Art projects, games, and activities for anyone wanting to have FUN with the arts.

The Utah Arts Council maintains and operates three exhibit spaces.

Gallery Nights Statewide
Enjoy various gallery nights from Logan to Moab.

Living Traditions Festival
Living Traditions: A Celebration of Salt Lake's Folk & Ethnic Arts takes place on the weekend before Memorial Day each May. This three-day event is held on the grounds of the City & County Building in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah. Festival hours are Friday 5-10 pm; Saturday 12-10 pm; and Sunday 12-7 pm.  Free admission.

Mondays in the Park Concerts
Since 1987, the Utah Arts Council Folk Arts Program has hosted free concerts of folk music and ethnic dance at the Chase Home Museum of Utah Folk Arts, located in the center of Salt Lake City's Liberty Park. Concerts begin at 7:00 PM, Monday evenings during July and August. Bring your lawn chair or picnic blanket!

Out West: The Great American Landscape exhibit
Eight Utah artists are represented in an exhibit that is traveling through China.

Reading Room
The Utah Arts Council's Original Writing Competition has had numerous winners in its 49-year history. Here is a place to read some manuscripts that won in past years.

State Arts Collections
Since 1899, the Utah Arts Council has collected art of all types from Utah artists in hopes of chronicling and preserving the righ cultural heritage of the state.

The Temporary Museum of Permanent ChangeLogo for the Temporary Museum of Permanent Change
The Temporary Museum of Permanent Change is a community
based, participatory project that uses the major construction processes in downtown Salt Lake City as catalysts to animate the city. The Museum engages a variety of audiences using a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach that includes performance art and video production, visual art, urban archaeology, anthropology, local history, existing businesses and ongoing deconstruction and construction processes as spectacles for people of all ages. Together these elements provide teachable moments in our efforts to manage and celebrate change
