Out West: THe Great American Landscape
Eight Utah artists have been included in Out West: The Great American Landscape, an international exhibition of American landscapes that will tour China’s Silk Road cities during 2007. The exhibit is a collection of contemporary art depicting unique and dynamic aspects of the American West.

Utah Paintings in the Exhibit
Organized by Meridian International, in collaboration with the National Art Museum of China in Beijing at the Chinese Ministry of Culture, this exhibit will tour China throughout 2007, and close with an exhibit in Missoula, Montana, in November. Utah artists James Floyd “Jimmy” Jones, Gary Kapp, Mark Knudsen, David Meikle, James Randle, A.D. Shaw, Gary Ernest Smith and Kathryn Stats are featured in the exhibition.
The collection of landscapes of the Western states, which features 68 works by 50 American artists, highlights the dramatic physical scenery of the western regions and its culture in Arizona, California, Colorado, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. Meridian gathered paintings from museums, individual artists, galleries and collectors. Additional well-known artists featured in the exhibition include Dana Boussard, Russell Chatham, William Matthews, Dan Namingha, Howard Post, Kevin Red Star and Donna Howell-Sickles.
