  • There are no projects open at present. New projects will be announced later this summer for Uintah Basin Applied Technology College in Vernal and a new Division of Human Services and Division of Enviromental Quality combined facility in Salt Lake City.

The Utah State Legislature Capital Facilities and Administrative Services Appropriations
Subcommittee reviews all capital projects for the State and approves or cuts public art funding for
those projects. If you would like to contact those legislators on the committee to express your views
on art in public places. The committee membership is listed on the Utah State Legislature web site at: http://www.le.state.ut.us/asp/interim/Commit.asp?Year=2008&Com=APPCFG

Other Utah Public Art Opportunities

  • The Leonardo, Salt Lake City
    Temporary art piece // Call for Submissions now accepting submissions for a large-scale temporary multimedia art installation. We are seeking submissions for an installation in the atrium/lobby area of the building, constituting of an 18-by-30-foot wall space adjacent to an existing painting by Doug Snow, which cannot be moved. The installation may also extend into the lobby area. Photographs and floor plans are available upon request, and building tours can be arranged. National & International Public Art Opportunities  

  • Metropolitan Council, Central Corridor Light Rail Transit,
    Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN
    - Request for Qualifications (RFQ) seeking artists for the design, fabrication and installation of integrated art on the CCLRT. The Council is seeking up to five artists to create integrated, outdoor public art to enhance 15 new light rail stations. For information on requesting an RFQ,

  • South Park Bridge Replacement Project, King County, WA
    4Culture and the King County Department of Transportation Bridge Division are seeking an artist as design team member on the South Park Bridge Replacement Project. The qualified applicant will have experience working in design team collaborations for large, transportation infrastructure projects and or specifically bridge projects, with additional experience working with Landmark structures. The selected artist will be asked to realize innovative solutions respectful of local historic context within a culturally and economically diverse community. The selected artist shall receive a Design Contract for $60,000. Upon proposal review and approval the artist shall be awarded a contract for Commissioned Artwork for $240,000 plus applicable construction credits.   • City of Tamarac, Florida - Tephford Park
    The Tamarac Public Art Committee is seeking to commission an artist or artist team to create a permanent original sculpture located at Tephford Park. Tephford Park encompasses approximately 22 acres and is located south of the C-14 Canal (a 250-wide waterway) and west of Nob Hill Road. One mile to the west of the site reserved for public art is a conservation area adjacent to the Florida Everglades. Information: Jennifer K.   • The City of Fort Myers, by and through its Public Art Committee, seeks to commission an artist/artist team to create, fabricate and install a signature, site-specific sculpture for Centennial Park located in River District of downtown Fort Myers along the Caloosahatchee River. Artists are strongly encouraged to submit their information and images electronically at CaFE www.callforentry.org at no charge.   • UrbanArt Commission - Legends Park - Memphis, TN
    Seeking artists to develop enhancements for Legends Park (formerly Dixie Homes) and University Place (formerly Lamar Terrace). The budget is for the design concept plus build-out of an enhancement for a main gathering area, and which should focus on the history and community that was Dixie Homes.
    Budget: $75,000 - Deadline: August 6, 2008

    UrbanArt Commission - University Place - Memphis, TN
    Seeking artists to develop enhancements for University Place (formerly Lamar Terrace). The budget is for for a large-impact enhancement for a retention pond area that will be visible to pedestrian and vehicular traffic, and will be in front of the development’s senior building.
    Budget: $100,000 - Deadline August 6, 2008

    An artists’ workshop will be held Thursday, July 10th at 6PM to give artists a chance to learn more about these projects, including site information and the history of the areas. The workshop will be at the University Place Management Office at 1045 E.H. Crump Boulevard. All artists who currently live in the U.S. are invited to submit proposals by 4:00 PM on Wednesday, August 6th, 2008. Application guidelines are available from the UAC and at

  • Heritage Village Public Art Project - Pinellas County, Florida
    This commission focuses on the creation of four sculptures that will become place markers for interpretative areas within Pinellas County’s living history and museum site--Heritage Village. The four interpretative themes to be represented in the artwork are: Coastal Living, Agriculture, Community Life and Tourism.   • The Art in Public Places Committee of the Arts Commission of Greater Toledo (ACGT) and the Lucas County Board of Commissioners call for artist qualifications for multiple public artworks for a new multipurpose arena currently under construction in Toledo, Ohio.  This new facility will be the home ice of Toledo’s ECHL hockey team, the Toledo Walleye, while hosting concerts and performances year round.  The committee is considering three to five public artworks ranging from $25,000 to $300,000.  Information: http://www.acgt.org/rfp/

  • Art Spaces, Inc. – Wabash Valley Outdoor Sculpture Collection is issuing a request for proposals for a site-specific project to be located in the city of Terre Haute, Indiana on the campus of Indiana State University. The sculpture will be located in front of the new Indiana State University
    Recreation Sports Center (www.indstate.edu/recsprt). This facility will

  • The City of Palm Desert's Art in Public Places Commission Request for Qualifications: To establish a pool of artists who utilize natural and artificial light in their work. would like to develop a pool of artists for a project titled: "Embracing the Desert Light" and other potential projects that utilize light as the primary medium. Qualified artists should have experience in creating artworks that incorporate natural light during daylight hours and subdued artificial or reflected light at night. Artists that have previously worked with solar, LEDs, lasers, light reflective materials, materials that transmit light, any other materials that can utilize light, or any combination of them are highly desirable.
