Statewide Annual Competition
Visual arts competitions and exhibitions
have been a project of the state since 1899, providing juried
exhibitions open to all Utah artists and a forum from which
the Permanent Collection Committee can make acquisition recommendations.
This competition and exhibition is open to all Utah artists over the age of 18. The jurors prefer to see the works in person, but if you are unable to deliver your pieces to the host gallery, up to three slides may be submitted and sent to the Utah Arts Council (see address below).

"Painting"
includes all wet media on a two dimesional surface including but not limited to canvas, board, wood panel
and paper.
"Sculpture"
includes but is not limited to any carving, modeling, welding and bronze casting.

THIS YEAR's JURORS :
Barbara Robinson, Director of the Artist Services Program at the Idaho Commission on the Arts, received her degree in art From Boise State University with an emphasis in Art History. She is a consultant for the Public Art Program at the Boise City Arts Commission, and has served as a panelist and juror for art agencies in Kentucky, Utah, Washington, and West Virginia. Robinson has coordinated peer sessions for national arts conferences.
John D. Spiak is a curator at the Arizona State University Art Museum. His curatorial emphasis is on contemporary art and society. His is the founder of the now annual Arizona State University Art Museum Short Film and Video Festival. Spiak teaches and lectures to university and community groups on museum exhibitions and has published museum catalogues and acted as curator of education, program coordinator and preparatory of traveling exhibitions..
