Broadway Classics in Concert made its debut performance as a trio concert at Carnegie Hall in 1994, featuring the pure, silvery voice and enchanting presence of Diana Walker. The New York Times is quoted as saying “everything she sings is a work of art.”
The show is a user-friendly program adaptable to a variety of audiences and performing venues, with beloved music from the musical theater (Broadway) and classical stage, as well as movie, folk, patriotic and sacred songs.
Upon honoring Diana with the Governor’s Mansion Artist Award, First Lady Jacqueline Leavitt wrote “the audience was thrilled by the beauty of her voice and the sterling nature of her overall performance. Her repertoire was varied and displayed her ability to captivate all who were in attendance.”
Winning 2nd place in the International American Music Competition at Carnegie Hall, Diana went on to sing with major opera houses and in concert in the United States, Europe and Canada, including the New York City Opera. Among other Broadway credits, Diana played, Carlotta and Mme Firmin in The Phantom of the Opera for three years. A versatile “cross-over” artist, she has appeared internationally as a guest performer with symphonies, ballet companies, on soap operas, and in films, including starring in the award winning film, “Look at Me.”
Discography includes Broadway Classics (with David Glen Hatch), and You’ Never Walk Alone (with the former Mormon Symphony and Youth Chorus). She has soloed with the Tabernacle Choir and is featured on their newest Christmas CD, A Mormon Tabernacle Choir Christmas.
Outreach Programs:
The Singer and the Song is a program which introduces grade school children to different kinds of vocal music and emphasizes developing talents of all kinds. It was performed for years as a Young Audience program for schools in the Salt Lake City area.
Diana enjoys giving Master Classes with a mini-concert for the music departments at High Schools and/or Colleges/Universities, giving the students a chance to work with a professional singer. The mini-concert has been given for the entire high school with positive results. This generally increases audition attendance at the regular concert.
Technical Requirements:
- Well tuned Grand Piano in concert hall
- Microphone and stand
- Good musical sound system
Lighting for a typical concert performance, soft amber/lavender gels are great.
