The Sizzling Strings are a dynamic family ensemble “who do it all!” The group is comprised of seven talented children, all classically trained, 12 stringed instruments with their Mother at the piano and their Father on the guitar. The Sizzling Strings are able to offer presenters different show options. The first half of the show is classical in nature including pieces such as “Hungarian Dance No. 5” by Brahms and music from composers such as Vivaldi, Hummel, Fiocco and Bach. The second half of the show is where the show can be tailored to the presenters' audience. They can offer a quick-paced entertaining show, full of fun and memorable oldies and rousing fiddling tunes featuring great American favorites from “Yankee Doodle”, and “New York, New York,” to fiddle tunes like “Orange Blossom Special” and “Wabash Cannonball.” The other choice for the second half is a “Tribute to Broadway.” This set would include pieces from Fiddler on the Roof, Sound of Music, The Phantom of the Opera and more. If a fiddling and oldies show is desired we will include pieces from The Sound of Music and Phantom of the Opera at the end of the 1st half.
The Jensen family provide their audiences with a refreshing musical fare with popular pieces everyone will recognize. It's a very entertaining show with such variety that it will please audiences of all ages and diverse musical interests.
As an additional programming option: bring The Sizzling Strings to your venue for a full Old-Fashioned Christmas show that will put anyone into the Christmas Spirit. Our show is enhanced by full Christmas costumes, a sleigh and falling snow! Treat your community to a Happy Holiday from The Sizzling Strings!
Outreach Options:
The outreach program can be geared to any age audience in the schools or the community. We discuss and play different styles of music such as classical, broadway, jazz, folk, fiddling, etc. We include meaningful and fun-filled information about composers and different musical styles.
If local schools have orchestra programs, we can incorporate them into the show. We can send orchestra music, tailored to age and proficiency, to the conductors of each group a couple of months prior to our scheduled performance. The orchestras learn the music and when we arrive, we spend the afternoon with the groups of young musicians rehearsing and polishing the number for the evening concert. Near the end of the second half of our show, we bring the orchestras on stage and perform with them.
If there is no orchestra program in your area, we can teach aspiring musicians about the entire string family of instruments and let them see and hear the differences between instruments, the different opportunities with each and our approach to rehearsing that brings such amazing intonation with children so young.
Other options are available for outreach and may be set up directly with the artists.
