Theta Naught is a collective of musicians performing improvisational, instrumental, and experimental music usually falling in the genre classifications of Jazz, Post-Rock, Avant Garde, Math Rock, Experimental, or similar field. This act weaves their improvisational music stylings with the utterings of word-shaker, poet, sonosopher, and professor, Alex Caldiero, to bring the listener an aural experience never thought imaginable or obtainable. Theta Naught + Alex Caldiero will perform for approximately 90 minutes but can be varied depending on the presenter’s terms.
“Improvisation between these musicians and poet begins with someone laying down a groove. Sometimes it's the voice, sometimes the bass, or the drums and the cello, and the instruments often trade off as the groove continues; but each of these songs, whoever's got the groove, features ongoing improvisational conversation in the context of that groove.” (Catalyst Magazine, September 2006).
“Caldiero isn’t the traditional lead singer that audience members eagerly request, but his electric spoken-word performances tend to engage the most skeptical crowds.” (City Weekly, July 2006)
Theta Naught’s Previous album, Abacus, was voted #12 in a list of top 50 U.S. instrumental bands on the webzine The Silent Ballet.
