Folk and Ethnic Arts Grants
Several grants are available for artists and communitities to strengthen and perpetuate the traditional artistic skills and repertoire that define and express their own cultural identity.
TEACHING GRANTS are available on an annual basis to support the teaching of traditional folk and ethnic arts in both one-on-one and group settings. Apprenticeships support instruction between a master artist and a mid-level artist. Master Classes and Workshops are for group instruction by a master artist. Both apprenticeships and workshops assist artists and communities in passing along skills and traditions to the next generation.
Announcing of 2008 Teaching Grant Recipients
PROJECT GRANTS are designed to assist individual artists and cultural communities in developing, perpetuating, or presenting their own traditional art forms. They are available year-round, and are processed quickly to help communities and artists take advantage of timely opportunities. Project grants target local grass roots organizations, both urban and rural, throughout the state. They were created to assist cultural groups in planning new projects and obtaining the seed money needed to leverage greater community support.
