Kim Strunk has a passion for dance that began at age five and continues to this day. She began her diverse professional career in 1975 with the Memphis Ballet and later traveled to New York City to dance on scholarship with the Alvin Ailey School. She moved to Salt Lake City to attend the University of Utah where she received a BS in sports medicine. In 1984 she joined RDT and currently an artistic associate for the company and on the faculty for their Community School.
Kim teaches and choreographs extensively throughout Utah and the Western United States. She works with a wide range of students and devotes considerable time to the development of community-based programs. Most recently, Kim has worked as an adjunct professor for Brigham Young University and Cal-State Fresno.
While Kim offers a wide range of residencies, classes and workshops, her favorite and most popular are African-based. Kim also designs residencies that can encompass creative dance, modern, improvisation, composition, action theatre and yoga. In addition, she is available for choreography and often organizes student performances to conclude her residencies.
Requires a CD player and any percussion instruments that may be available.
Available for residencies, extended projects, collaborations with other artists, and short-term activities.
