community development & training

The Utah Arts Council offers Community Development and Technical training programs for nonprofit organizations. These are geared towards arts and cultural organizations in the nonprofit sector.

The Change Leader Program
The Change Leader Insitute is a five-day leadership program that focuses on tools and skills necessary to lead change. The goals of the program are two-fold: to increase the adaptive capacity of arts administrators and leaders, and to create a mentoring network within the Utah Arts Community. The next Change Leader Institute will be held in February 2008 in Springdale. For more information about participating in the program, contact Anna Boulton, (801)236-7546.

Grant Writing
In partnership with the Salt Lake Community College Writing Center, we offer a 6 session grant writing program designed to walk participants through writing a grant from beginning to end. Contact: Anna Boulton, (801) 236-7546.

For more information, Download the Grant Writing Brochure.

COMING SOON! In response to UAC's Listening Tour, a three-day grant writing workshop will be held in several rural areas of Utah. These workshops will consist of three days of training over a two month period with interim group feedback sessions. This is a new format that develops a more comprehensive understanding of the grant writing process through hands-on experience. Participants will research funding sources, write a draft grant, and receive feedback from peers and experienced panel members. More workshop information and registration forms will be published soon.

Other training such as those listed below are offered on-demand. Arts organizations may fill out an application form to request training in their area. (A menu of available topics will be posted as we work out the details. Requests for other topics will be considered on a case-by-case basis.)

Organizations are asked to make logistical arrangements (facility, food, recruitment for participation, and followup) and the Utah Arts Council's Community Development staff will provide training and materials.
